Levi Gerke is quickly establishing an international performing career. Originally from Missouri, he is currently pursuing doctoral studies in collaborative piano under Dr. Timothy Hoekman at the Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he previously earned a master’s degree and has held graduate assistantships in recital and opera accompanying. In the summers, he is a member of the artistic team at the Festival de Puycelsi in France, playing recitals and singing baritone with the Berlin-based male vocal ensemble MConsort. He holds Bachelor of Music degrees in Vocal and Piano Performance from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri, where his principal teachers were Dr. Susan Quigley-Duggan (voice) and Dr. Melissa Loehnig Simons (piano). A passionate exponent of art song, he has attended AIMS in Graz and the Franz-Schubert-Institut, learning from such Lieder luminaries as Roger Vignoles, Andreas Schmidt, Julius Drake, Helmut Deutsch, Robert Holl, Wolfram Rieger, Birgid Steinberger, Bo Skovhus, and Elly Ameling. An avid chamber musician, Levi is a founding member of the Invicta Trio, a trailblazing group comprised of violin, trombone, and piano. In this group and others, Levi is active in the promotion of new music, fostering an ardent belief in the power and importance of community outreach.
